| Breaking News | | Tuesday, May 25th, 2010: 6-Hit Game for Taveras It seemed that Colorado right fielder Willy Taveras could do no wrong as the Rockies kayoed the Giants 12-0 today as he rapped out 6 hits in 6 at-bats. San Francisco pitchers couldn't get him out as Taveras seemed to know which pitches they were throwing.
"I think the Rockies were stealing signs," growled one unhappy San Francisco fan.
"I just felt good today. I saw the ball well and just wanted to make good contact and put the ball in play," exclaimed the jubilant Taveras in the postgame press interview.
W. Taveras doubled in the 1st, hit a two-run single in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 7th, singled in the 8th and singled in the 9th.
In the 2010 season Taveras has hit .319 with no home runs, 11 RBIs and scored 16 runs. | | Tuesday, May 25th, 2010: Rockies Santo Dominates Giants It was not a good day at the plate for Giants hitters. Most of them came up empty against Joel Santo of the Colorado Rockies. He held them to 4 hits and blanked San Francisco 12-0. Santo also chalked up 6 strikeouts and 1 walk in the game at Coors Field.
To this point in the season, Santo shows a 4-2 record, 9 starts, 60.1 innings, 35 strikeouts and a 3.13 ERA. | | Sunday, May 23rd, 2010: Crawford Slaps 5 Hits After the Oakland 8-7 victory over San Francisco and his 5-hit day center fielder Carl Crawford told BNN beat writers, "It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college ball, two hits in a game is very good... three or four hits even better... 5 or more are out of sight... and if it is in pro ball... it is really something special. It will get you in the record books."
The 28-year-old player gained that distinction today at McAfee Coliseum with a spectacular 5 for 6 game against the San Francisco Giants.
The skipper of the Athletics spoke glowingly of Crawford, telling BNN writers, "His swing is getting there. We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Carl did that to perfection today."
C. Crawford struck out in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI double in the 6th, singled in the 8th and hit a solo-shot off V. Chulk in the 11th.
This season Crawford has delivered 57 hits in 192 at-bats for a .297 average with 2 home runs. He is getting on base at a .327 clip and his totals also include 12 RBIs and 21 runs scored. This year Crawford has played in 42 games. | | | Injuries | | Player | Injury | Out for... | Disabled List Status | | CF Aaron Rowand | torn calf muscle | 4 months | On DL, eligible for return (60-day DL) | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 26-24, .520 PCT | | Position in Division | 4th, 7.5 GB | | Record at home | 12-14, .462 PCT | | Record on the road | 14-10, .583 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 2-7, .222 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 6-8, .429 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 7-6, .538 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 19-18, .514 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 5-5, .500 PCT | | Record in April | 10-12, .455 PCT | | Record in May | 16-12, .571 PCT |
