| Breaking News | | Monday, May 31st, 2010: 5-6 Day for Bruce Jay Bruce exploded for a barrage of base hits today at Safeco Field. The Seattle center fielder had a field day in the 16-13 triumph over the Texas Rangers, finishing with a 5-6 day and a spot in the league record book.
"My hitting philosophy is pretty simple," he said. "I focus on just seeing the ball and I try to get a good pitch."
Well, Bruce must have focused at least 5 times and apparently got some good pitches, too. It was one of his best days ever with the bat.
J. Bruce hit an RBI double in the 1st, struck out in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off T. Mastny in the 5th, singled in the 7th, singled in the 9th and hit a GRAND SLAM off F. Francisco in the 10th.
In 51 games this season Bruce has batted at a .275 pace with 57 hits and 12 home runs. | | Thursday, May 27th, 2010: Season Over for McGee in Seattle The season is finished for Jacob McGee of the Seattle Mariners. The club announced today that he will forego the rest of the year because of injury. The Mariners starting pitcher suffered a ruptured bicep tendon while throwing a pitch in a recent game against the Chicago (A) White Sox. Team doctors said it would take at least 7 months to heal.
So far this season McGee has 4 wins and 2 losses and a 4.18 ERA. | | Monday, May 10th, 2010: Rasmus's Strong Week Earns AL Trophy Colby Rasmus demonstrated his potential to be a star in the game last week and today he took home the American League Player of the Week Award.
The Seattle center fielder wreaked havoc on opposing pitchers last week, pounding them for a .424 average (14-33) with 1 home run and 4 RBIs on his way to claiming the honor.
This season Rasmus is batting .307 with 4 home runs. He has scored 19 runs and driven in 14. | | | Injuries | | Player | Injury | Out for... | Disabled List Status | | P Jacob McGee | ruptured bicep tendon | 7 months | 60 day(s) left (60-day DL) | | SS Tim Hulett | torn thigh muscle | 6 weeks | 49 day(s) left (60-day DL) | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 30-21, .588 PCT | | Position in Division | 2nd, .5 GB | | Record at home | 10-13, .435 PCT | | Record on the road | 20-8, .714 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 7-1, .875 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 10-6, .625 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 5-8, .385 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 25-13, .658 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 7-3, .700 PCT | | Record in April | 9-13, .409 PCT | | Record in May | 21-8, .724 PCT |
