Andrew McCutchen demonstrated his potential to be a star in the game last week and today he took home the National League Player of the Week Award.
The Pittsburgh center fielder wreaked havoc on opposing pitchers last week, pounding them for a .500 average (14-28) with 1 home run and 10 RBIs on his way to claiming the honor.
So far this year McCutchen is batting .354 with 7 home runs, 32 RBIs and 29 runs scored.

Joey Gathright really sizzled at the plate in today's 10-5 win over Mets. The Pittsburgh center fielder blistered New York (N) for 5 hits in 5 at-bats.
"Gathright was too tough to get out today," the Mets skipper said in the postgame interview. "No matter what we threw him, he hit it. And he hit some good pitches, too."
J. Gathright singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, walked in the 7th, singled in the 8th and singled in the 9th.
Currently Gathright is hitting .419 and has collected no home runs, 1 RBIs and scored 8 times, while playing in 8 games.

Pirates Edwin Jackson could be wearing a new uniform soon. Word has it that Pittsburgh would like to swing a deal for the 26-year-old reliever. A spokesperson for the team declined to comment.
