| Breaking News | | Sunday, May 16th, 2010: Tejada Makes 300 Mark It was a historic day for Houston's fine shortstop Miguel Tejada. He slammed home run number 300 in the Astros 9-5 loss to the San Diego Padres at Minute Maid Park.
He told reporters after the game, that he was disappointed in losing the game. "It's great to get that many homers, but I don't play for homers -- I play to win. That's the name of the game."
In his milestone-making game Tejada went 1 for 3, scored 1 run and collected 4 RBI. That home run put him in a select group of ballplayers.
Lifetime Tejada has compiled a .285 batting average and collected 2111 hits, 300 home runs and 1213 RBIs. | | Monday, April 19th, 2010: Polanco Slams 5 Hits for Chicago (N) It's not something you read about in the sports pages every day -- a 5-for-5 day. It may only come around once in a career -- a lot of players never have one -- but Placido Polanco got one today. He scattered hits all over Wrigley Field to pace Chicago (N) to a 10-4 victory over Houston.
The Houston skipper told reporters in the press room, "Tip your hat to him. He hit some good pitches. According to the scouting report, Polanco hit several that he is not supposed to hit."
P. Polanco singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI double in the 4th, singled in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off S. Perez in the 8th.
This season Polanco has hit at a .393 clip with 6 RBIs, 2 home runs and 9 runs scored. | | Thursday, April 8th, 2010: Guerrero 5-6 Against Milwaukee Next time the Brewers might think twice about pitching to Vladimir Guerrero. Today at Minute Maid Park the Houston right fielder really burned Milwaukee pitching, going 5-for-6 in the Astros 14-3 triumph.
"When he's seeing the ball well," his skipper told reporters, "he can probably stroke a base hit blindfolded."
V. Guerrero grounded out in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, doubled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, doubled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
