"We felt if we could slow down Morales, we would win the game," the Braves manager explained after the game. "They really seemed to feed off of his streak, so we really wanted to make sure they had nothing to feed off of."
So far this year Morales is hitting .341 with 9 home runs. | | Thursday, May 20th, 2010: 20-Game Hitting Streak for Morales The Diamondbacks won the game today, but you would have been hard pressed to find anyone talking about it. The focus seemed to be on first baseman Kendry Morales extending his hitting streak to 20 games by going 2-for-4 in the game.
"Sure we are happy that we won, but seeing Kendry extend his streak was also special," said a jubilant Arizona manager. "He's a special player who is capable of doing some amazing things at the plate."
For the record, the Diamondbacks defeated the San Diego Padres 3-1 at Chase Field. K. Morales struck out in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th and grounded out in the 7th.
To date, Morales has collected 59 hits for a .349 average. He has posted 9 home runs, scored 26 runs and driven in 26 runs. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 27-23, .540 PCT | | Position in Division | 3rd, 6.5 GB | | Record at home | 11-15, .423 PCT | | Record on the road | 16-8, .667 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 2-0, 1.000 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 5-4, .556 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 7-8, .467 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 20-15, .571 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 5-5, .500 PCT | | Record in April | 12-10, .545 PCT | | Record in May | 15-13, .536 PCT |
