2010 preseason activities begin in earnest today as the Pioneer League teams prepare for practice sessions, scraping off the rust and polishing their skills for the new season.

 | Saturday, October 10th, 2009: Ryan Delaughter Picked PIO's Best Hitter
It was a season to remember for Ryan Delaughter -- and one for opposing pitchers to forget. The right fielder for South Bend has claimed the 2009 PIO MVP after tearing up the league with a .372 batting average.
Delaughter rang up 93 hits, 9 doubles, 3 triples, 21 home runs, 69 RBIs and 57 runs scored. He also posted a .498 on-base percentage in his award-winning season.
The annual SBWA awards dinner is this weekend. All of the major award winners will be there to receive their trophies for their outstanding achievements this past season.

 | Friday, October 9th, 2009: PIO PIO Pitcher of the Year Winner Announced
25-year-old Cesar Ramos of the Visalia Oaks put together an unbelievable season for such a young man. A newcomer to the Pioneer League, Ramos was the top choice for the prestigious PIO Pitcher of the Year today.
In 2009, Ramos crafted an impressive 12-1 record and a 2.31 ERA. In 121 innings he allowed 99 hits, struck out 97 and walked 18.
All of the league award winners will be honored this weekend at the SBWA annual dinner.
