Friday, April 23rd, 2010: NYPL News: Pre-Season Begins
One season yields to another... and it is a time when a young man's fancy turns to baseball. The Boys of the Diamond will soon be here in all of their radiant glory to put some sparkle, purpose and meaning back into the lives of baseball fans everywhere. There will be many of those seemingly meaningless exhibition games, but they do have an important purpose -- to prepare teams for the coming regular season. The 2010 New York-Penn League schedule has been announced and the preseason starts today.
Thursday, October 8th, 2009: Ruggiano Honored, 2009 NYPL NYPL MVP
Justin Ruggiano of Hudson Valley was a smashing success in 2009, winning the NYPL MVP in the New York-Penn League.

He rattled fences and pitchers as he banged out a .377 average and .493 on-base percentage. Ruggiano logged 83 hits in 220 at-bats, 16 doubles, 1 triple, 14 home runs, 47 RBIs, 50 walks and scored 55 times.

This weekend the SBWA will host its annual awards dinner and all of the major winners will be there to receive their trophies for their outstanding achievements this past season.
Wednesday, October 7th, 2009: NYPL's Best Hurler is Trahan
Just a few men in baseball history have won the coveted NYPL Pitcher of the Year. David Trahan joined this elite company today when the New York-Penn League bestowed the honor upon the 28-year-old Vermont starter.

Trahan put up a 11-1 record with a 2.31 ERA. The Lake Monsters ace started 16 times, pitched 109 innings, fanned 73, walked 14 and held opposing hitters to a .230 average.

The SION Baseball Writers Association will present his trophy to him at the annual gathering this weekend.
